Olympus
Mons play highly emotionally charged, urgent, jittery indie
P’Rock.
The London trio unload the tension of the daily hustle and bustle of
the capital in songs full of nervous twitches, intricate melodies and
soothing
harmonies. Or as producer Tom McKay puts it: “You can’t fake
hectic”.
Their music and
lyrics reflect a romantic view on a fragile and urban society that
is defined by the madness of daily life,
heartbreaks and
personal
stories, not afraid of making social comments either.
Aaron (Vox and
Guitar), Norbert (Bass) and Moran (Drums) first met in late 2005
on the London music scene and soon decided
that their
busy and hyperactive
playing styles perfectly suited each other.
Only 3 months later,
they started performing live and not only did the band impress the
punters but also the music industry.
In 2006, Olympus
Mons were voted “best unsigned band” by Play
Music, and won the “3 Student Music Awards” as
well as the “Fopp Award for New Music”.
Since then, the band has played 100’s of gigs in Europe sharing
the stage with bands such as Babyshambles, The Delays, The
Maccabees...
That same year
the band met Dad Records’ David Rousseau at an illegal
boat party in London. He was blown away by the band’s
fired up performance and also shared their vision of the
future of indie music.
In October 2007,
the band entered the studio with producer Tom McKay to
record their debut album “Nothing Is Gonna Spoil My Day
Today”.
The record is to be mixed in NYC by producer/engineer Mark
Plati (Bowie, Prince, The Cure,…) in November and will be released early 2008
on Dad Records.
